Two week-long ISTE approved Short Term Training Programme (STTP) on “Advances in Electrical Drives and Renewable Energy Systems” was successfully conducted at the Electrical Engineering Department, Institute of Technology, Nirma University, Ahmedabad from June 16-27, 2025. The programme aimed to enrich the academic capabilities of Electrical Engineering professors by exposing them to emerging technologies, innovative pedagogical strategies, and potential avenues for collaborative research.
Throughout the training, expert resource persons from reputed institutions and industries delivered insightful sessions on various contemporary topics such as Electric Drives, Smart Grids, Electric Vehicles, Renewable Energy Integration, Design of High-Performance Electric Motors, and Power Electronics for Energy Systems. Hands-on simulation-based learning sessions were also part of the schedule, giving participants a practical edge. Participants actively participated and interacted during the sessions, making the event intellectually vibrant and engaging. A unique aspect of the training was the inclusion of industrial training sessions, where participants visited industries and interacted with industry professionals to understand practical applications, current challenges, and real-time solutions. These sessions offered valuable exposure to current industrial practices and helped bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and field applications.
The event was organized under the aegis of Internal Quality Assurance Cell, Nirma University. This training programme marked a significant step toward capacity building and continuous professional development for engineering educators in the field of Electrical Engineering.
